Italian festivals
Tuscany hosts many Italian festivals throughout the year. If you are lucky enough to have your vacation coincide with one of Tuscany's festivals or a national Italian holiday, you will become an active participant in true Italian and Tuscan culture and heritage. Food and wine play a huge role in Italy's celebrations, and you will have an opportunity to sample Italian delicacies available only during these festivities, as well as the chance to come and play with us! Italians love to celebrate, and Tuscans maybe most of all. In Castiglione della Pescaia, for example, on May 1st, the locals hold an annual music festival featuring Italian folk singers from all over Tuscany. In Grosseto, the first two weeks of May will bring a two week festival called the Rodeo of the Rose, where Tuscany's native butteri (the tough Tuscan cowboys from the Maremma region) gather to compete and show off their dexterity on horseback. Along with the many Saint's Feast days, Italy also celebrates wine, cheeses, olive oils, chestnuts, and other local foods with numerous festivals.
